Reflections
A chilly start to the day, but after some wine shopping at Carrefour it was a lot warmer when we arrived in St. Valery. Excellent views of a Cormorant catching fish in the clear water close to shore. More wine shopping at Majestic before heading to a very busy Eurotunnel where we were last on the train.
First On
A good trip, although the train was delayed by half an hour. The trees were showing their autumn colours and it was warm enough to eat lunch outside. At the Copropriété meeting we actually came to some decisions!
Waiting Around
Parked in Quend-Plage and walked along the beach to Fort-Mahon-Plage to see the Char à Voile competition. It was the first race of the season in the Grand Prix de Picardie, but nothing much seemed to be happening!!
Pont de Normandy
Crossing the Seine on our way back to Quend, 5 years and 4 days since the last time and a lot sunnier.
Sur le Bâteau
A 45 minute drive to the pretty village of La Roche Bernard. Lunch of galettes at "Crêperie La Sarrasine" and a last minute boat trip on the Vilaine with views of Cormorants, Egrets, Herons and Kingfishers.
Kouignettes
Into Vannes for some shopping and a lovely fish lunch at "La Table de Jeanne" just round the corner from "Le Funambules" where we bought a picture and "Maison Georges Larnicol" where we bought their speciality, Kouignettes, which are the "cupcake” version of the traditional Breton cake.
Our Route
Bike ride to the beach and some Menhir spotting on the way back. Moules de Bouchet for dinner.
Health & Safety French Style
Sarzeau for some shopping, lunch at "L'Entre-Temps" with flambéd galette for desert. Visit to Château de Suscinio and the beach in the afternoon.
Port du Logeo
Market in Saint-Gildas-de-Rhuys. A short bike ride to the port and a glass of wine watching the boats being launched and retrieved on the slipway.
First Drink
Travel to Brittany passing over Le méridien de Greenwich on the way. Good views of Mont Saint Michel in the distance.
Local Tree
Rue first thing for some shopping, then gardening followed by a quick ride around the village to check the bikes were O.K. before heading to Brittany. New white lines painted on all the roads in the village.
Follow the red road
A misty and drizzly drive to Quend, the fence still not repaired but all the footpaths in Quend have finally been resurfaced.
